4 Pivotal Decisions of Transfoming William's Next Generation!

In the Transformational Churches DVD, besides the 5 Principles, Pastor Ed Silvoso shared with us that there are 4 Pivotal Decisions that the North American Churches made to allow the transformation that took place. The 4 Decisions are:
1.Focus outward, not inward.
2.Pastor the lost, not just the found.
3.Be bold. Try new things.
4.Engage the enemy and expect success.

1.Focus outward, not inward.
I feel that if we want the Lord to transform William's Next Generation, we too need to make these Pivotal Decisions so that we can be used by the Lord to Build God's Families in our Neighborhood...

In order for us to build God's Families, we need to move out into the Marketplace, into our Neighborhood and start raising new Families of God. If we only focus inward, all we do is trying to strengthen those Families that has already been built. However we would not be building God's Families because all we do is maintain and strengthen the Familes that has already been built.

I felt I saw new light in this area and I am convinced that if we are serious in Building God's Families in our Neighborhood, we need to get out into the Neighborhood and truly start building Families.

2.Pastor the lost, not just the found.
I also felt that my heart as a Pastor has been revived. All these years, I have faithfully pastor those God has placed under my care in the fold. Those in William's Next Generation, I have watched over them together with my 12, and in the past, the Zone Supervisors. I have done to my best, disciple them, help them grow in the Lord, care for them and minister to them.

However, in these 2 weeks, I sense my Pastoral Calling has been revived where I felt the Lord tells me to pastor those in our Neighborhood even if they are not Christians. Suddenly my eyes open and saw that Jesus has always been ministering to the Lost in His Neighborhood and not just His disciples that followed Him around in those days...

I feel that I need to get out there, and pastor the teachers in the schools... I should minister to your friends, your classmates in your classes, your parents at home, etc., etc. Then I heard the Lord telling me, "William, I once look at the crowd out there and had compassion on them. Then I prayed to My Father and ask Him to send forth the Labourers. This was what happened... as recorded in Matt 9:35-10:1,

"Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
MT 10:1 He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.""

I realise now that I need to call my 12 & my 144 and equip them and give them authority to send them out to their "towns & villages" to minister to the people in need. This is the way to Pastor the Lost!!! We need to raise everyone as Pastors in their Neighborhood, as Marketplace Ministers so that the Lost out there can be ministered to.

3.Be bold. Try new things.
Well, I am not sure what new things to try... I suggest we start doing prayer walk in our Neighborhood and let God show us what new things He would like us to try... But when you hear Him sharing ideas with you, putting suggestions into your mind, be bold to try it... I believe as you step out in faith, you will experience awesome results!!!

4.Engage the enemy and expect success.
Yes, indeed... Engage the enemy and take back territiories for the Lord. Let us move out to build God's Kingdom, God's Family in our Neighborhood.

Yours truly,
Bro William

How to Transform William's Next Generation?

Before we begin to transform our Neighborhood, we need to first transform ourselves... As I watch one of Pastor Ed Silvoso's DVD on Transformational Churches, North America, I felt so inspired by it that I believe if I can impart those same principles into the lives of God's People under my care, we will be able to be used by God to transform our Neighborhood.

Pastor Ed Silvoso shared with us 5 Principles behind these Transformational Churches as follows:
1.It is possible to change the spiritual climate over a city.
2.Marketplace ministers must be equipped and commissioned.
3.Ministry in the marketplace should be a lifestyle.
4.The river of God gets deeper the closer you get to the city.
5.A transformational church will always find favor with the city.

As I pondered over the 5 Principles, I believe we need to embrace these Principles seriously and put them into action. To do that, I have adapted these Principles into some suggestions that we can apply in William's Next Generation:

1.It is possible to change the spiritual climate over our Neighborhood!
We need to believe that we can change the Spiritual Climate where God has placed us in. For example, in the schools of our BB Coys, we can make a difference in changing the Spiritual Climate of the School. Like the churches in North America as shown in the DVD, we need to move out and start praying for the School, the different Classes, the various CCAs, the Security Guards, the Hawkers in the Canteen, the School Cleaners, the teachers, the people who are in authority. As we pray, I believe the Spiritual Climate can be changed.

The bible in 2 Chronicles 7:14,15 says this, "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. "

Let's get organised and set up Prayer Gatherings in the Schools, in our Neighborhoods, or in our Offices, anywhere we sense that God would like to set up His Church in the Market Place. Let's set up Lighthouses all over our Neighborhoods so that the Light of God can shine to every corner of our Neighborhoods.

2.Marketplace ministers must be equipped and commissioned!
We need to sytematically get all our Marketplace Minsters to be equipped. We need to equip all our youths in the various institutions with the techniques of Prayer Evangelism. It is very simple, we just need to teach them how to Bless others, how to Fellowship with the people that they bless, and wait for opportunities to Minister to the People's Felt Needs. In terms of sharing the gospel, I believe many of them have been taught how to share John 3:16. I believe, what we need to guide them now is how Minister to People's Felt Needs and pray for them. So this 100K Blessing is a very good idea of how to bless others and pray for the people around us...

As we equip our youths to do Prayer Evangelism, we need to Commission them as Minister over their Schools, their Classes, their Communities so that they will rise up to minister to the people around them. To all the Youths in William's Next Generation, Arise and take Your place as Pastors over your Community, your Schools, your Neighborhood!!!

3.Ministry in the marketplace should be a lifestyle!
The next Principle which is of great significance is to make Ministry in the Marketplace a Lifestyle. Sometimes, I feel that we seemed to be living like spies in a foreign land... We behave so differently in church compared to when we are at the marketplace, in schools or at our workplaces. We need to begin to start our project meetings with a word of Prayer to God to grant us success with the projects that we are doing... We should start all our office meetings with a word of Prayer to God to bless us with fruiful meetings.

We need to be rise up to pray for the needs of the people around us so NATURALLY and expect God to meet those needs and deliver us from difficult situations that we are facing. Praying for one another, praying for our pre-believing friends need to become a norm in our lives. Let us rise up as Ministers in the Marketplace, as Pastors in our Neighborhood!!!

4.The river of God gets deeper the closer you get to the city!
There is a SECRET that God is revealing to us through Pastor Ed Silvoso. The more we move out into the Marketplace, the more we will see Signs and Wonders accompanying us as we minister to the people in our neighborhood. Go and test it for yourselves, do not just listen to me... As you move out to bless others and pray for them, you will see God at work out there in the Marketplace!!!

5.A transformational church will always find favor with the city!
Acts 2:46,47 says, "Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."

As we become a Transformational Community, the William's Next Generation will find favor with our neighborhood. God has spoken, will you be part of His Family to bring His Glory to your Neighborhood?

God bless,
Bro William

3 Steps to Implement in Transforming our Neighborhood

In this coming 100K Campaign, let us take 3 Practical Steps to Implement what God is going to do among our Neighborhood:

1. Don't just Believe in God, Believe God
We need to rise up in faith and believe that God is going to use us to turn our neighborhood around. Each of us have 20 persons to bless, we may begin with our family members (those who are not christians), our classmates, our schoolmates, our colleagues, etc... All these people are our Neighbours in our Neighborhood. Having gone down the list of our immediate Neighbours, team together with other warriors to bless more people in our Neighborhood so that we become very VISIBLE in that locality.
As we start to use the 100K Prayer Pamphlet to bless our neighbour we will become the Ministers, the Pastors of our neighborhood because we are introducing God into that particular Neighborhood. The idea is to get our Warriors to become the LIGHT to shine with the hope of God in their Neighborhood . We need to become so VISIBLE among the people through this 100K Blessing where the people around us begin to look to us for prayer, for the supernatural solutions to the problems that they are facing...

2. Establish a Perimeter of Faith, no matter how small
When we become the LIGHT in our neighborhood, we would begin to establish a Perimeter of Faith... We must not let this season of the 100K Campaign slipped by without becoming VISIBLE in our family, our areas of work, our areas of studies!!! Imagine with me, after the 100K Campaign, many Perimeters of Faith or what we called, Spiritual Beachheads will begin to be establish in many many Neighborhoods.
No matter how small you may think all these Beachheads may be, it is a possible intrusions into our Neighborhood with the LIGHT of of God. Once we establish these Beacheads, we will begin to secure the Perimeter by Praying, by cleaning house in that perimeter, by gathering the people of common faith to rise up to own the Land. As a people of God, we will pray for the change of the Spiritual Climate of our Neighborhood.
Then we need to expand these Perimeters by doing good deeds among the people. Reach out and expand the base to the furthest that we can reach. When we expand enough, we will begin to infiltrate into the enemies territory and win people to Christ. We will need to destroy the works of the devil who try to blind the people, deceiving them with the lust of the world. We will discuss this more in the future about the Expanding of the Perimeter, Infiltrating into the enemies' perimeter and Destroying of the enemies' Perimeter.
Now we focus our energy in Establishing the Beachheads in our Neighborhoods through the 100K Campaign and securing them through Prayer.

3. Get Equipped & Equip Others
One of the major equipping that is needed is to quickly equip all our people with the concept of Prayer Evangelism. There are 4 main steps:
1. Bless
2. Fellowship
3. Minister to the Felt Needs
4. Proclaim the Gospel
In summary, the KEY word is PRAYER!!! This is the most beautiful of God's wisdom in this whole 100K Campaign. Through it all, we will catch a fire, a Passion to Pray like never before for the people around us. Surely, God will transform our Neighborhoods when we begin to lay hold of God with intercessions, fasting, tears, plea and cry for our Neighborhoods.

Your faithful servant,
Bro William

Transforming of our Neighborhood

I believe we are at the beginning of a new era in seeing our Neighborhood being transformed... In this 3rd phase of our year, it is time to Ask Big and see God's Mighty Transformation of our Nation. In Zechariah 9b, God says, "and I will remove the sin of this land in a single day." I believe the time has come for us to Ask Big of God and see God at work in a very Miraculous way...

I am greatly encouraged by Rev Ed Silvoso's teaching on how the Youths of this Generation can be used by God to transform their Neighborhood. As I listened to the teaching, I began to realise that the 100K Blessing Campaign is only the first Step of God coming to transform our Neighborhood. Through the 100K Blessing Campaign, our young people are going to be transformed into the Ministers in their Schools, their Neighborhood, their Campuses. So what are Rev Ed Silvoso Teachings:

5 Biblical Principles we need to Adopt
1. Have Faith, Act on It, Be Positive
We need to truly believe and act on their faith. We need to start moving out when we are prompted by God. The 100K Blessing Campaign is an example of us exercising our faith in moving out to bless 100,000 people. Do you believe we can bless 100,000 people?

2. See youth the way God sees them, see the Promise & not the Problem
In the midst of raising the warriors for the 100K Campaign, I feel that we have not raise enough youths to be warriors as we allow the youths to think that they cannot be warriors... It is not true. We need to believe in our youths and they need to believe in themselves where they are the Warriors that God want to raise up.

3. Youth are Marketplace Ministers
We need to see the Youths as Ministers in their campuses, in their schools, in their neighborhood. The Youths of today need to be bold and believe that they are Ministers, that they are Pastors in their respective classes, in their respective schools, in where they are. In our 100K Campaign, do we see ourselves just as someone who need to take the prayer pamphlet to bless someone; or do we see ourselves as a minister of God, as a lay pastor, sent by God to bring God's blessing?

4. Prayer is something that Young People can become Passionate about
We need to build the Passion of Praying among our Young People... They can become so passionate about prayer that they would totally depend on prayers in everything that they do... where prayer become a very big part of their lives... In this 100K Campaign, do we pray because this is the strategy of the 100K Campaign; or we truly believe in prayers and totally depend on God through the prayers that we make?

5. Youth need to have a Vision Bigger than Themselves
We need to help our youth to become dreamers for God. Like Joseph, we need to help our youths in believing in themselves that they can make a difference... not just in little things but in Important Matters. The 100K Campaign is more than just a program of FCBC for the month of July... The 100K Campaign is only the beginning of a Faith Building Process that God is using to bring FCBC into our Destiny.

With the above 5 Principles, we need to learn how to apply it in our lives... There are 4 Decisions we need to make:

1. Elders must support the youth whole-heartedly
I am convicted that we must support the youth fully in whatever they felt that God is prompting them to do. If I truly believe in them, then I must support them!!!

2. Pray Prayers that require Miracles
I am convicted that this is the season of Asking Big!!! Let's believe God forMiracles!!!

3. Students must take Spiritual Jurisdiction over their Campuses or Institutions
I am convicted that the way to go is to get the students themselves to become their Marketplace Ministers and take ownership of their Classes, their Schools, their Neighborhood.

4. Get Moving First, Organise Later
Let's catch what the Holy Spirit is doing and fan the fire of God higher of what God is going to do among our youths in this season of the 100K Campaign.

Rev Ed Silvoso also gave us 3 Practical Steps to Implement. They are:
1. Don't just Believe in God, Believe God
2. Establish a Perimeter of Faith, no matter how small
3. Get Equipped & Equip Others

I will take some time to think through and implement the 3 Practical Steps as we move into the 100K Campaign in a few days time...

God bless,
Bro William

God Enjoys Hearing You Confess Your Righteousness!

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul)

Scripture Reference: 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 (NKJV)

"Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."

Did you know that whenever you confess "I am the righteousness of God", you are recognizing Christ's death and His work on the cross? 2 Cor 5:21 says that Christ, who was sinless, became sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God!

As I meditate on this verse, I know my position as God's child. These are the few things that I have, and I am:

1. I am reconciled to God, I have no feud or anger towards Him whatsoever (v20)

2. I acknowledge that Christ's death on the cross took away my sin. He has put it on Himself, so I am sinless.

3. I am fully aware that Christ's death, with His blood poured out for me, has washed me clean.

4. Therefore, I am qualified to become God's righteousness!

Brothers and sisters, remember this: always know that you are the righteousness of God already. By acknowledging it, you are laying hold of what Jesus has done for you on the cross. His death is not wasted on you. You show your gratitude by confessing your righteousness in Him!

Don't try to BE Christ by suffering. I know many people, including some of my cell members, who are so plagued by their sins of the past, that they are unable to rise up to serve God, and are spiritually crippled. God has taken away our sins, He has suffered on our behalf and He "remembers them no more" (Isa 43:25). So you are free to serve Him, to dance for joy, to sing in praise of Him!

Ordinary Person + Extraordinary God = Extraordinary People

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul)

Scripture Reference: Genesis 18:14 (NKJV)

"Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son"

What you are going to read next, is something that happened just these past 3 weeks, and are things that happened, true to the point of my knowledge...this will be a tad long but I'm sure you will be blessed.

----------------------------------------------

3 weeks ago, one of the ladies in my customer service team (her name is Jennifer) called me and told me that her husband got dengue fever, but didn't realise it until 3 days after. So he was warded in TTSH. Water got into his lungs but the doctors said that was a small problem. But later on they found some problems with his liver and kidney.

My staff is a 52-yr old Christian lady, formerly from FCBC but now in another church. I am very close with her because we belong to the same dialect and she is a very efficient worker, so I trust her a lot and talk to her a lot.

Jennifer's husband is a heavy drinker, though Christian, and that is one of the reasons for the liver problems. One week later her husband suddenly had difficulty breathing one day and collapsed. So he was immediately rushed to the hospital and put in ICU. Jennifer called me the next day and she was crying over the phone. A man who has spent more than 20 years in marriage with her, now on the verge of leaving unexpectedly...how could she not be upset?

So as she shared with me, I was heartbroken for her because I see her almost like my own mother. Her husband even told her that should he die, he would not want to have a funeral wake and he wanted to be cremated straightaway (his is a rather isolated kind of character). So I prayed for her and claimed God's promise that despite all the talk from the relatives, there "WILL BE NO FUNERAL. In fact, God, Jennifer will not even have to spend much on hospital bills because You are going to give him a new kidney and new liver and he will be discharged!"

After the prayer she was crying over the phone and I cried with her, knowing her heartbrokenness. But this was when I remembered the Scriptures saying that Nothing is too hard for God. So I claimed daily that even though the world may think that getting healed is supernormal, to God it's only NORMAL, because God WANTS to heal.

One week later (which was last Sunday, 7 days ago), Sister Jennifer called me to update me, this time in tears again because the doctors are now giving her husband only one more week, before asking her to make the decision to pull the life support system out of him. I told her straight that though outwardly, to man, he was dying, but somehow this boldness came over me and I just told her that NO he will not die, and he will wake up, move to normal ward, and be discharged in no time because healing belongs to God. She agreed with me and never have I seen a woman as strong as she is (with exception of course, my very own mother).

Last night, at the Jackie Pullinger conference, Jennifer called me and yelled into my phone. I could not hear what she was saying and had to come out of the auditorium. Her husband had woken up and moved to the normal ward! He now no longer needs to insert an oxygen tube (he was previously relying fully on 100% oxygen from the system) and now am only wearing an oxygen mask. He can talk and when he's tired, he will write on the board to tell the family what he wants to. Against all that the doctors have said, Jennifer's husband has survived!

I cried with tears of joy together with Jennifer and all I kept saying was "Hallelujah PRAISE THE LORD!"

-----------------------------------

In the Scriptures, Sarah was without child, but the Lord promised her a child, even in old age.

Brothers and sisters, what is deemed many times impossible by humans, is nothing to God. HE will do it, we just need to ask Him. And the Bible also says that "the prayer of faith will save the sick" (James 5:15, NKJV), so we really just need to believe when we pray.

I'm going to give Jennifer a big hug when she comes back to work, after her husband is discharged. =)

Prayer Is More Powerful Than Kungfu (Third Level)

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul)

Scripture Reference: 1 Thess 5:16-18, Phil 4:6 (NKJV)

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thess 5:16-18, NKJV)

Note the words "in everything give thanks", and that is not all: this is "the will of God in Christ Jesus for you"! Did you know that it is God's will for you to give thanks? And the best part is, God wants you to be give thanks in all circumstances, and to rejoice always!

Brothers and sisters, this verse is one of my favourite verses and I pray that it will speak to you much. If God's will for us is to give thanks to Him, wherever we go, whatever we do, in all circumstances, we will always have things to give thanks for, right?

Remember, God is a God who is powerful and Almighty. So do know this: if God wants you to rejoice always, do you think He will not want to give you the things to have cheer over? The Bible says "In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, NKJV).

God has already overcome the world! Be of good cheer and rejoice always! In the midst of all these He also says "pray without ceasing". God calls us to pray nonstop, as and when we remember and can.

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God" (Phil 4:6, NKJV)

Remember, seek first the kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. We all just need to ASK.

In those martial arts movies we see the hero always using his most powerful move, only when he has tried all previous methods and they don't work. He uses his first 9 levels of kungfu but to no avail. The enemy is too strong for him. Only when he uses the level 10, does he defeat his enemy and kill him.

Prayer is your most powerful weapon, and please, do not let it become your last resort. Cut short your battle with the devil today because the longer you drag, the more danger you may come to. Use prayer as your first resort and leave him no way out. Have victory today, and have it your way.

Prayer Is More Powerful Than Kungfu! (Second Level)

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul)

Scripture Reference: Still on James 5:16 (NKJV)

"Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much."

In the last blog, I mentioned that there is a place where we can receive and get the righteousness of God, through faith in Christ. So, that's good. But what's next?

Notice the word "effective" in James 5:16? How can we make effective prayers? Read on.

"Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, 'All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.' Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’” Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him. (Matt 4:8-11, NKJV)

Notice the word "For it is written..." (v10). Do you know that even Jesus quotes from the Scriptures? He is no different from us! Here, our Lord was being tempted by the devil but He used the Word and the important thing is this...He SAID it. He voiced it. Basically He told satan off using the Word of God! And what happened next, was that the devil left Him, and behold! Angels came and ministered to Him!

Brothers and sisters, do you notice that when you watch those period dramas, those pugilists and those well-versed in martials arts, loved to say the stance when they display it? For example, when one is using the Drunken Fist, he will say it out loud and clear, "Haha, let me show you my Drunken Fist!" and he proceeds to show his Drunken Fist.

There is great truth in this: The Bible teaches us that when we learn to make prayers, we learn to pray prayers that are of God's Word.

For example, when you are not well, don't just pray "Father, I pray that I will recover soon". This is good but it can be better! Pray "Father, Your Word in Isa 53:5 says that by Your Stripes we are healed. Not just 'going to be healed', not just healed 'soon', but that we ARE healed! Thank Your for Your Promise, the Bible says it, I believe it, that settles it!"

Today, learn to pray Biblical prayers, pray the verses and promises of God as you are praying for something in your life. As you pray these verses and promises, you are reminding God of His claims. Numbers 23:19 says that "God is not a man, that He should lie...". He will never sabo you, He will keep His promises and He will bless you. As you practice your kungfu, speak out the stance that you're displaying. Satan will be in fear!

Prayer Is More Powerful Than Kungfu!

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul)

Scripture Reference: James 5:16 (NKJV)

"Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much."

I especially love the Chinese version of this verse. It means "the kind of power that a righteous man's prayer releases, is impactful and effective".

I remember when I was very young, I used to be so fascinated watching all those kungfu shows, the period dramas. Especially those where a ray of colour would be beamed from one martial arts expert's hand, and it would be "fired" towards the enemy's body, and the enemy would be hurt by the internal prowess and bounce backwards about a metre or two.

As I meditate on this verse, I was thinking to myself, so what counts as righteousness and WHO, is the righteous man who can make prayers like this?

"But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe..." (Romans 3:21-22, NKJV)

James 5:16 tells us that only the righteous man can make such effective, fervent prayers. And Romans 3:21 and 22 say that this righteousness is from God. Great, now there is a place in which we can get righteousness, and that is from God.

But that's not all. Verse 22 says that it comes through faith in Christ. So in short, we need to receive the righteousness of God through faith, by believing in Jesus!

"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

Brothers and sisters, as you read more and more of our blog, you will realize that our answer to all these, is the Word! Without the Word, you won't receive faith because it comes by hearing the Word of God. The very day we accept Christ into our lives, is the very day that we have accepted the righteousness of God into us.

Isa 43:25 tells us that God forgives our sins and remembers them no more. After we acknowledge the blood of Jesus has cleansed us of our iniquities, God looks at us as though we have no sin. YOU are the one who have all the rights and authority now, to make effective, fervent prayers! Or in the Chinese Bible, impactful and powerful prayers.

Lift up your hands and make the prayers that you need today. Want to see the devil get hurt by the beaming powers that are released from your hand like the kungfu show that I watched? You can do it today. Just raise both hands towards heaven, and start making your prayers and petitions to the Lord today!

Ready To Face The Giants Together?

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul)

Scripture Reference: Luke 5:4-11 (NKJV)

Allow me to tell you a bit of the story... According to Scriptures, Jesus got onto Simon's boat and started to teach the multitudes from the boat. After speaking He told Simon to "launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch" (v4).

Simon obeyed with a simple obedience and faithfulness. Now why do I say that? He had been toiling all night, but to no avail. But upon the Lord's word, he obeyed and went ahead.

What followed after, remains one of the most compelling stories told until today.

Simon and gang caught a great catch that day, and it was so much that he had to call to his partners from the other boat to help catch the fish.

"But Paul, so many fish, ikan bilis ah?"

No my friends, this is what the Scriptures say, Simon and the rest "caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking" (v6). In fact, his boat started to sink! So these are BIG FISH!

Just earlier today I had a good friend who called me, and asked me to sit in with her this coming Sunday at Youth Service. She is bringing a colleague, so she needs help to make him feel comfortable. This friend of hers has been coming to service a couple of times now and is open to the Gospel. But because my friend is a lady, and so she was not so comfortable reaching out to him too much, I offered to help.

Dear brothers and sisters, in the coming months we are going to see and experience many many people coming to know the Lord, but this is the season where, by one person's strength, is definitely not enough. That is why in Luke 5, God always provides us with friends, that when the "fish" gets too many, and you cannot cope, and you're sinking, your friend will come by with the next boat to help!

Read verse 4 again. “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” (NKJV)

We need to let down our nets into places, and reach out to people where our friendships are already firmly rooted, because this is the Lord's heartbeat for many of us. These are the people who are close to our hearts. And we need to go deep.

If you are worried that you will lose the friendship, fret not. At most they will say "err...no thanks, I need to stay home and help my mom with the dishes". You won't lose the friendship with them because they know you long enough.

Jesus ended with this, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” (Luke 5:10, NKJV)

And we need to catch those who matter to us because "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Luke 12:34)

If they matter to you, they matter to God too.

Do You Dare?

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul and Barney)

Scripture Reference: Proverbs 10:22 (NKJV)

"The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it."

Just yesterday I was walking along at Bishan Junction 8, and I saw a former colleague. He was walking with his 6-year old daughter (think her name is Ashley). So I asked how he is and stuff. He said good, he's working now in the media industry. The job is tough but he'll get by.

So I asked where his wife was and he said that his wife just gave birth to a pair of twins, both daughters. He followed up by sharing that he wasn't expecting twins, now expenses are doubled and he is looking for another job.

My former colleague sounded real troubled, so I assured him by saying this (and when I said this, I did not expect to say it in this manner).

"Hey man relax, if God dares to give you twins, He will dare to provide the finance for you! Haha...!"

The light on my friend's face suddenly returned and he laughed heartily, agreeing with me.

Well, the Bible in Matthew 6:33 says that,

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

God wants us to have these things, in fact, He wants these things to be added to us. Of course, the key is not to seek our own righteous, but to seek His kingdom and His righteousness.

But what is righteousness? It is not right behaviour. It is a gift from God (Romans 5:17, NKJV - go read it!). At the cross, Jesus did not just take away our sins, He also gave us righteousness for us who believe. so that today, we can seek His righteousness and have these things (financial needs, health needs etc) added to us.

Today, if God "dares" to give you a situation, He will "dare" to bring you great success, but will you seek first His kingdom and His righteousness? If you do, He will add to you bountifully.

Christ In You The Hope Of Glory

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul & Josiah)

Scripture Reference: Haggai 2:3-9 (NKJV)

At the start of the year, God promised us a Year of Victory, and we entered the year excited about it. However along the way we may have encountered setbacks and difficulties that slowly ate into our confidence and we start to get discouraged.

Well not surprisingly, the evil one’s tactics has not changed much since the days of the Old Testament. And one such story can be found in the rebuilding of the temple. You see the Israelites were conquered because of their sins and were exiled to Babylon. Years later God brought them back from their captivity and they began to rebuild the temple. However they got discouraged by their enemies. This was what was written in the Book of Haggai,

“‘Who is left among you who saw this temple in its former glory? And how do you see it now? In comparison with it, is this not in your eyes as nothing? (Haggai 2:3 NKJV)’”

He says that though we do not see it,

“ ‘Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ says the LORD; ‘and be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all you people of the land,’ says the LORD, ‘and work;...” (Haggai 2:4 NKJV)

We should therefore be strong and work hard, believing Him.

“for I am with you,’ says the LORD of hosts. ‘According to the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, so My Spirit remains among you; do not fear!’” (Haggai 2:4-5 NKJV)

And we will not fear for God's spirit is with us.

“For thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the LORD of hosts. ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the LORD of hosts. ‘The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the LORD of hosts. ‘And in this place I will give peace,’ says the LORD of hosts.” (Haggai 2:6-9 NKJV)

He will "shake the heavens and the earth" and fill it with His glory and it will be greater than that of the past though physically it looks like nothing presently. You see, the moment we focus elsewhere for strength, we are not able to complete or overcome the tasks that God has put in your life. Yet the minute we focus back on Christ, our Father has promised to blessed us like the way when the Israelites started building God’s temple. Today, you and I can rest assure that He will bless us because Christ completed building the temple when He died on the cross. Today we are His walking living temples, because He has placed it all in us. We are destined for victory!

Because of Christ’s great work, He wants to honour us by shaking “heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the LORD of hosts.”

Prayer: My heavenly Daddy, by the work of Christ, Your temple is embodied in me. I receive your word in Haggai 2, believing and confessing that You will shake heaven and earth, the sea and the dry land for my sake so as to bless me. Today I can expect to fully enjoy all your blessings and benefits because Christ completed building the temple when He died on the cross. Regardless of how much I have experienced thus far, I fully walk in your promises for me and my life. I am prepared to reap the victory that You have for me in this Year of Victory. Your name will be glorified! In Jesus name, Amen!

What Is Intercession?

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul & Josiah)

Scripture Reference: Amos 7:1-6 (NKJV)

The Oxford Dictionary defines it as, "the saying a prayer on behalf of another person." which basically means praying for someone else. Today we will be reading from Amos 7:1-6, but first a little background on the Book of Amos. It was written by Amos, a shepherd who was called by God to pronounce judgment on the people of Israel for their idolatry, complacency and oppression of the poor.

In chapter 7, the Lord showed Amos visions signifying the destruction he was about to bring upon Israel. First He showed swarms of locust stripping the land clean. These pests will destroy the harvest crops which probably brings famine, as the crops would be their main source of food. Amos cried out to God to forgive and in verse 3 it says, "So the Lord RELENTED. ”This will not happen,” the Lord said”.

Then the Lord showed Amos a vision of “judgment by fire; it dried up the great deep and devoured the land” (verse 4). Again Amos cried out to God to stop and in verse 6 it says, "So the Lord RELENTED. “This will not happen either,” the Sovereign Lord said".

To ‘relent’ means "To become more lenient, compassionate, or forgiving".

Prayer is a powerful privilege. It has the power to change things and bring about God's compassion. Amos' prayer should remind us to pray for others - our family, our friends and our nation. To cry out to God on their behalf, for his mercy and forgiveness is indeed a privilege for us believers, kings and priests of the Most High God!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that you have given us the privilege of interceding for others. Teach me to pray for my family, my friends and my nation. Give me the same compassion you have for them, and to pray on behalf of them. Thank you Lord. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN!

A Victorious Dummy’s Guide To Success (2)

Scripture Reference: 1 Peter 5:8-9, 1 John 5:4-6 & Hebrews 10:35 (NKJV)

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul and Kingsley)

Continuing from where we left off yesterday on confessing positively, let me show you what Colossians 2:15 says,

“Having disarmed principalities and powers, He (being Jesus) made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it (NKJV ).”

When you proclaim Jesus’ finished work on the cross over the circumstances in your life, you are actually reminding and mocking those disarmed principalities and powers. You see, principalities and powers being satan’s employees (since he can’t be at two places at one time), they possess a certain level of intimidation and when things do not turn out right for you, they seemed highly threatening. But Jesus through Peter says that they are all noise, but no bite.

“Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings (1 Peter 5:8-9 NKJV).”

You are not alone in what you face. A greater body of believers, male and female alike, are facing the same struggles, circumstances and adversities as you. Yet Jesus through John, the Apostle of Love, said this,

“for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. (1 John 5:4-6 NKJV)”

In spite of what is surrounding your life, you can stand in Christ and speak forth His Word into those negative and unpleasant adversities and circumstances. You do not have to take it lying down, but bring the fight to the devil! Soon enough, you will find your victory.

“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded (Hebrews 10:35 NKJV).”

Prayer: Dear Father, as Christ is, so am I in this world. I thoroughly believe and confess that I have the victory in Christ over those areas in my life even though I have yet to see it. I’ll continue to add life to what I say, to those around me and my leaders through your scriptures by continually declaring them. Your Word says it; I believe it and that settles it. I believed, therefore I overcome the world. In everything I do, I am destined for victory. Thank you Jesus! Amen!

A Victorious Dummy’s Guide To Success (1)

Scripture Reference: Galatians 6:1, Revelation 12:11 (NKJV)

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul and Kingsley)

Now have you started practising confessing positively and according to what the bible says about you?

Here is another important truth to realise. Around us are people (that also includes Christians) who gossip and fan wild rumours of people, circumstances and situations. The best part is, we love to take part in them!

Yet Paul said we should all be doing this,

“Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted (Galatians 6:1 NKJV)."

Remember that we have the power to add or subtract from our lives? The same goes for those around us! Given any moment of a day, words of grace and mercy spoken help people triumph over their circumstances and brighten up their day. After all, do you prefer beautiful, helpful and comforting words or would you rather have words of condemnation?

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony … (Revelation 12:11 NKJV)”

The word in Revelation 12:11 (NKJV) clearly states that ‘they’ (you and I) as those saved ‘overcame him (satan) by the blood of the lamb’ (Jesus Christ) and by their words of testimony. Jesus completed the work on the cross so as to buy us the victory in our lives. Now it only leaves us to speak His Word into our circumstances and life battles. Positive or negative; victory or defeat – it’s not difficult to see which is the obvious choice.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that I am always a winner and your Word transforms me from glory to glory. As a result of who I am in Christ, with the people that I meet today and from henceforth, I will speak forth words of affirmation and truth into their lives, Christians and non-Christians alike. I will speak well of my family, my friends and my leaders. “By the word of (my) testimony, I shall be able to “restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness”. No longer will I use words to tear others down, but with words that edify and strengthen those around me. Remind me daily of this and help me to serve others with my words. In your most precious Son’s name I pray, AMEN!

Receive Healing From Depression

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Barney and Paul)

Scripture Reference: Prov 12:25 (NKJV)
“Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.”

Are you feeling depressed about life; about the situation you are in; about the future? You want to get out of this depression but you could not, and you want to be set free.

The Bible has the answers to all your problems. In order to deal with a problem in life, we have to first identify the root of the problem. The Word of God is full of wisdom and anointing. In Proverbs 12:25, it clearly identified that the root cause of depression is anxiety in the heart.

We are often anxious about our future, about tomorrow, about our family, about how people look at us, and many other issues to be anxious about. It is how we look at the situation that is ahead of us. The Bible says that a good word will make the heart glad. It is not any positive word which is meant to comfort you for the moment, but it is a GOOD WORD, a word of TRUTH. Do not merely listen to what the word say about you, listen to the word of God. Do not merely listen to the tell-tale signs of the situation, but listen to the word of God.
“The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. WHAT CAN MAN DO TO ME? The Lord is for me among those who help me; therefore I shall see my desire on those who hate me. It is better to TRUST IN THE LORD, than to put confidence in man.” Psalms 118:6-8

When you trust in someone that is dependable, your position will never fall. It is not the end only if God says that it is. God does not look at the situation like what we do.

When we saw multitudes, Jesus sees the heart of individual and has compassion on each one of them. (Matthew 9:36)

When we saw the lack of food and 5000 hungry man, Jesus saw abundance of food! (Luke 14:20)

When we saw our ugly self, Jesus saw that we are fearfully and wonderfully made! (Psalms 139:14)

When we saw a woman struggling for years with an issue of blood, Jesus saw a woman that is healed and set free. (Mark 5:25)

When we saw a sinful woman with many husbands at the well, Jesus saw a woman with her sins forgiven. (John 4:14)

Read the Bible and discover for yourself solutions in life. Confess the truth of God’s Word rather than the depressing words of the world. Pray to Jesus and ask Him to help you in your situation and believe that He has heard you and will come to rescue you!

“Be ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God; and THE PEACE OF GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV

Let God settle your anxiety, your issues for you. Pray to Jesus and believe that He has already started working on bringing you out of the situation when you started to pray. Confess the truths of God into your life. Learn to guard your heart against depressing thoughts by confessing the positive words of God.

Let go your anxiety to God, let God take over from there and move on with life believing that God has handled the issues for you.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, forgive me for worrying. I believe that You are on top of the situation and You are here to help me. I commit the issues unto Your hands, take over from here, set me free from anxiety. I believe I am set free NOW! Amen!

Know The Truths In Life, Speak The Truths In Life!

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Barney and Paul)

Scripture Reference: John 8: 31-32 (NKJV)

“…if you abide in My word, you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”

Do you want to live everyday in the presence of God? Do you want to enjoy reading your Bible everyday? Do you want the truths of God in the Bible coming to life in your everyday living?

Now if that is your desire, of course the first and foremost thing to do is to read the Bible everyday. You have to know the Word to know God. Some people complain that God does not speak to them, and very often these people also do not read the Bible regularly. The first and foremost of spiritual growth is reading the Bible.

If you have been reading the Bible, the next most powerful thing to do is to confess the Word of God! Saying out the truths of God will help you to establish God’s truth in your own life. You may have known that the word builds faith, but do you also realize that

“…faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 NKJV

You are speaking to your spiritual man when you speak out the word of God. With the confession of your mouth, you are also establishing the truths of God in your life.

“For with heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” Romans 10:10 NKJV

Confession of the truth of God’s word is powerful, because Jesus is the Word and this Word will go out to establish the work and accomplish His purpose! The Bible says that His words shall not return void, without accomplishing what He please! (Isaiah 55:11)

Actually confession is nothing new to us. We confess everyday of our life…words like “die lah, die lah”, “aiyoh, so stupid”, “I am going to be sick”, “I am going to fail my exams”…etc. We are basically brought up under the “bible of the world”. We think the way the world thinks. It is time to let the truth set you free! Instead of confessing the false, confess what God really thinks about you. The Bible says that,

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” Proverbs 18:21 NKJV

Today its your choice of Life or Death. Take action to confess Biblical truths today, you will find that the Bible is alive to you and you live in the truth of God’s word everyday! Find some verses and start confessing today! Speak the truths to yourself! You find that you know the truth like never before and the truth will set you free!

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, I confess that You are the Lord of my life and not the people around me. I am what your Word said I am, not what the world said about me. From today onwards, I will tame my tongue, I will not speak words that are not true about me and about the situation I am in. I will only look up to Jesus, and speak the truths He said about me and my life! Amen!

Rely On God's Might!

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Philip and Paul)

Scripture Reference: John 15:4-7

"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you."

When God gives you a dream or a task, it will require you to go beyond your strength and abilities. God desires for you to operate in His anointing and His power rather than your own limitations. You will be amazed by the outcome when you when you tap into God’s power.

When I (Philip) was born again, I tried to do much with my own abilities. I had two criteria: the things that I could do by myself, and the things that I needed God’s help.

I would think, well, I can do this or that myself. But this thing over here is a tough one. So help me, God. I would invite the presence of God to move in only certain parts of my life.

As I continued to grow closer to God, I discovered that I need God in every part of my life – even things that I thought I could do myself. That goes for my wife, Tracy, too.

Take for instance, Tracy and I were pursuing our part-time studies and working at the same time. Amidst our busy schedule, we continued to seek the Lord. We knew God would help us through our examinations because we had asked Him to.

Indeed, we have since completed our studies. We could have passed our examinations with our own abilities. However, when we asked God’s help, He gave us more than what we asked for! We graduated from our respective degree courses just before our wedding. God gave us enough time to prepare for our wedding! And that’s not all. We managed to get better jobs with our new qualifications.

In John 15:5, Jesus tells us that when we abide in Him and His Word abides in us, we will bear “much fruit”. That sounds like more than what we asked for. God wants to give us more than just enough. The Word also says that if we delight ourselves in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our heart (Psalm 37:4). Notice what Jesus says right after He tells us to bear much fruit: “Without Me you can do nothing”. We cannot do it without Him.
Brothers and sisters, do you need some signs and wonders in your studies, finances, or family? God will never intrude, so you must invite Him into these areas of your life. God is able, but you will have to ask Him to work in your life. You cannot do it by yourself.

Tithing: Your Formula To Financial Prosperity

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul and Superfly Kingsley)

Scripture Reference: Malachi 3:10-11 (NKJV)

Many of us are familiar with verses that tell us not to tempt our God; in fact, if you were to look at The Ten Commandments that God spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai (Exodus 20:1-17 NKJV), you can see that He mentioned “You shall not” ten times in this short reading.

But did you know that there is one area in our lives that the Father asks us to test Him in? That area is in your finances. This is what Malachi 3:10-11 (NKJV) says,

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the LORD of hosts;”

This is the answer to your financial prosperity, and being free from worrying about whether you will have enough! When you bring your hard-earned money or pocket money into His storehouse (ie. the church), He will see to it that you will never lack; in fact He will bless you until “there will not be room enough to receive it”.

Besides this promise, He will also prosper your work and all that you do; your family (whether they are saved or not), life and property will be sealed with His protection from the evil one (v. 11). If you need a real life example, think Rick Warren. Here is a man that knew and took our Father’s word seriously, putting it to the test. As a married couple, young Rick and his wife started off tithing 10%, and with each year, they increased that amount by increments of 1% per year. Thus by the third year, they were giving 10% tithes and 3% offerings. The end result? Our Father blessed him with a highly successful ministry at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California USA.

Not only that, they also received so much financial blessings through their series ‘The Purpose-Driven Life’ that they have become reverse tithers – giving away 90%, and keeping only 10%, and they are still VERY RICH!

The world tells us to invest in this stock or in that property, but they could never guarantee the returns. But our Father stamped, chopped and sealed that in His word for the whole of eternity. What’s more, it is guaranteed with our Saviour’s blood! You are destined to be prosperous!

Prayer: “Father, according to your Word given in Malachi 3:10, I will “now try You in this” - believing that my financial prosperity can be found through tithes and offerings to your Storehouse. I will stop robbing you and robbing myself from the overflowing blessings You have upon my life. Henceforth, I stop looking at my lack of money and confessing that I have not enough, but I hold on to the promises now made manifest through the blood of the Lamb. Praise your name, O Father and thank you Jesus for the finished work on the cross. Amen!

Christians, You Are Heirs To The King!

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul and Barney)

Scripture Reference: Romans 8:16-17 (NKJV)

"The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together."

Romans 8:17 tells us that we are "heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ" (NKJV). That means we have exactly the same anointing, the same power, the same authority, the same Father, the same INHERITANCE as Jesus! If Jesus can heal the blind, we can too. If Jesus can cause the lame to walk, we can too. If Jesus can bring the dead to life, we can too! That is what it means!

Imagine God is the super rich and and super-loving Father of the Family, and He has an extremely successful family business to boot. And I'm one of this children. My future is secure because I have a rich and loving Dad to trust in!

1. When I get into trouble, He bails me out of jail with His unending finance. He does not condemn me but waits for me to mature so that one day, I can turn over a new leaf and take over the family business.

2. When I am not well, He hires the best physician and doctors to heal me (of course Jehovah Rapha is our Healer). When I recover, He gives me health so that I can continue His work.

3. When I am in lack, He sends me more than enough for me to get by. He is El-Shaddai, the God who is more than enough! When I have more than enough, I bless others!

4. When I need to mug for my exams, He prepares the best environment for me to study. The All-Knowing God knows what is going to come out for my papers and He will give me the wisdom because James 1:5 says so!

"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."

My friends, God will give to all "liberally and without reproach...". Just ask and He will give until your mind overflows!

With the backing of this kind of Father, you can only do well because He wants you to!

Today, the Father wants us to do well. But many of us tend to forget that we ARE His Children, and that we HAVE a share of His inheritance! The only thing that can hold you back from receiving your inheritance, is when you run away from Home, and you refuse to acknowledge this Father.
Will you take your spiritual birth certificate and claim your blessings in God? Which Father will not want His son or daughter to do well? I'm sure this Father does, because I have received His blessings many times!

Prayers Public Unlimited

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul and Barney)

Scripture Reference: 1 Cor 14:14

God has given us a powerful prayer gift — praying in tongues, which is not limited by distance or time. When you pray in tongues, you could be praying for your future or even a loved one overseas. It is not limited by what you know or don’t know in your head.

When you pray in tongues, you won’t know what you are praying unless God tells you. This is because when you pray in the Spirit, your understanding is unfruitful — your mind is not involved.

“But Paul, I must know what I am praying!”

Well, sometimes, it is also better not to know what you are praying. In 2005, I was asking God for growth in my cell group. After praying in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, I ran out of words, so started praying in tongues. What I did not realise, was the magnitude of my prayer.

For example, I would have been afraid if I had known that the Holy Spirit was praying, “Father God, in the year 2006, bless Paul with so many new members, that he will double his team!" And indeed, my tribe grew from 12 to 25 people within three months and I brought them through the Encounter Weekend.

So I thank God that I don’t know what I am praying when I pray in tongues. I simply trust His goodness and pray in tongues for everything that He has planned for me to come to pass in His perfect time.

Dear Friend, don’t stop praying in tongues just because you don’t know what you are praying. You could be praying for the safety of a loved one in a life and death situation. Especially when you feel an urge to pray because you sense danger, pray! Pray until the burden is lifted. The Holy Spirit will know exactly what is going on, who is in danger and how to pray for deliverance. (Romans 8:27)

You may say, “Well, I can just pray in English.” You can, but your prayers will be very limited because you won’t know what to pray. It is better to pray in tongues because the Spirit knows all things. You don’t belong to that realm where all things are limited. You belong to God who is unlimited! So pray in tongues, and see great things happening for you and through you.

All You Need Is a Little Faith

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul and Johnny)

Scripture reference: Matthew 17:20-21 (NKJV)
NKJV 17:20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

The reading says that all you need is a little faith, even as small as a mustard seed; and with prayers, you can do wonders.

I remember a few years ago, when I first accepted the Lord, I used to wonder whether my parents would ever come to know the Lord. I came from Buddhist/Taoist background, and my parents were very staunch believers. They would participate in all sorts of religious activities, and welcome all sorts of spiritual Gods into our homes. Though they did not stop me from attending church, I knew from their tones that they were not too keen on me going for services on Sundays. As much as I loved them to know the Lord, I had lots of doubts, and never bothered to ask them if they wish to join me for services. I took it for granted that they would say no.

One Saturday night, the Holy Spirit prompted me to ask my dad to attend service with me the next day. Though with little faith and lots of doubts, I prayed to God for courage and words of wisdom. When I asked my dad, to my surprise and delight, he agreed. Just when I thought this was a miracle, God added another delight: my dad opened up his heart to receive healings and prayers. And within a span of slightly more than a year, two of my siblings and my mum accepted Jesus as their Lord and saviour too. And recently, my parents took up the courage and added faith to break free from the devil by destroying all the spiritual strongholds (idols and charms) in our home. And all these miracles would not have been fulfilled if I never pick up the courage to ask them. Most importantly, it wouldn’t have happened if I did not have that little faith to pray and ask God.

Dear friends, these miracles are not coincidence or mere luck. These miracles can and will happen in your life, be it in your family, your friends, or your workplace. All you need is to have that little faith to ask our Lord, and trust that it will be done.

I believe there are some of us whom are wondering whether our parents, our relatives, our friends, our loved ones, our colleagues, will ever come to know the Lord. Don’t wonder anymore. Don’t worry anymore. Just pray.

Today, think of somebody whom the Lord has placed in your heart, have that little faith to pray, no matter how small your faith may be. And trust that miracles will happen, more than what you will ever expect.

You Will Have Success As You Learn To Rest from Stress!

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul and err...Superfly Kingsley)

Scripture Reference: Gen 2:1-3, John 5:17 (AMP), Romans 8:30-35 & 37 (AMP)
Having a hard time finding rest at night? Worried over your exams, your job, your career, your cell members, your girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse, money, etc, etc, etc…. The list goes on and on and on…. Life seems tough? Well, according to God, it should not be for us.

In fact, He has called us to enter His rest. What do I mean? Well, let’s go on a journey through the corridors of time, and see things the way God sees it.

From the very onset, God had been in the thick of things, working and preparing the world. The world was meant for us – it was prepared for us to enjoy what He has created. Five days He spent preparing it, and He found it to be Good. But that was not the icing on the cake.

On the sixth day, He created man in His own image (Genesis 1:27 NKJV). That was Very Good enough for God (Genesis 1:31) that He finally rested on the seventh day (Genesis 2:1-3). You see, God only rested after seeing that man was created to enjoy His blessings.

But the rest of the story as we know took a twist and the plot thickened. Man through Adam and Eve deviated from God’s plan for success and enjoyment in the Garden of Eden. Yet God did not give up on us. Instead, he began to work again; only this time, it was the work of redemption.

Jesus now enters the scene, and made clear that since Man’s fall in the Garden of Eden, His Father and Him had been working to redeem man back to their original state,

“But Jesus answered them, My Father has worked [even] until now, [He has never ceased working; He is still working] and I, too, must be at [divine] work.” (John 5:17 AMP)

That divine work was for Christ to die on the cross for us, that we may be reconciled and brought back into His realm of blessings. When Jesus cried, “It is Finished!”, Jesus completed the work of redemption, setting us up and back to the way His Father intended things to be.

Since creation, we were designed to rest in His success and prosperity. Only when we were restored to that original purpose did God rest. Now, our Heavenly Papa is resting because man can now enjoy His blessings through His Son’s work on the cross.

Dear family, you and I can enter into that REST because of what Christ has done for us. Today, nothing can prevent us from receiving His blessings, success and prosperity upon our lives. You and I can REST assure that He has guaranteed us success in our studies, career and relationship with Him. We are destined to be victorious in Him! (Romans 8:30-35 & 37)

Prayer: Dear Father, according to the work that your Son did on the Cross, I am NOW REST ASSURED that I am GREATLY BLESSED, HIGHLY FAVOURED and DEEPLY LOVED. Your Word says it; I believe it and that settles it. I will renew my mind and not entertain thoughts that contradict your Word that describes my inheritance through Christ. In everything I do, I am destined for victory. Thank you Jesus, I now REST from stress and from all my worries. Amen!

Trusting and Obeying

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul and Johnny)

Scripture reference: Romans 13:1-7

In this reading, Apostle Paul challenges us to submit to God-given authorities. For children, this means submitting to parents. For adults, this means leaders in the government, the workplace, and the church.

So why should we submit? Is it because these leaders are the smartest, most reliable individuals on earth?

No. Paul asks us to submit simply because these authorities have been established by God. When we submit with sincerity of heart, we are doing the will of God.

Ephesians 5:21 reads “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” We ought to obey and honour our parents, so that we may enjoy long life on earth. (Ephesians 6:1-3) We ought to serve our authorities wholeheartedly, as if we were serving God, and He will reward us. (Ephesians 6:7-8)

Through submission, God is simply providing us with an authority test.

Before we ever become leaders of integrity ourselves, we must learn to follow other leaders, regardless of differences. In fact, the acid test of character comes when we disagree with legitimate authorities. When we refuse to demand our own ways and instead submit to others, our hearts are right. This is when God can trust us to lead others.

Today, there are some of us who are struggling to submit to our parents at home, our bosses in workplace, or our cell leaders in church.

Know that when we submit with sincerity in heart, we are serving God, not men. Know that when we honour our parents, we will enjoy long life on earth. Know that when we serve wholeheartedly, God will reward us bountifully. Know that only when we learn to submit to God-given authorities instead of demanding our own ways, then God can trust us to lead others.

Therefore, I urge all of us to put on Christ and submit to authorities appointed by God, just as Jesus has submitted to His Heavenly Father with respect and fear, and with sincerity in heart. And know that our Father in Heaven will bless us with even more.

Enjoy Life and Life Evermore!

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul and Barney)

Scripture Reference: 2 Cor 4:16-18

It's easy for us to be discouraged with life when we see that situations around us are not going well. As whatever around us are so real, we interpret the signs according to what the world taught us (eg. when you have cancer, you are seriously ill) and worse, according to our emotions (eg. when you have cancer, you will surely die...or the more practical Singaporeans...when you have cancer, you will first be poor and then die!).

Christians face similar troubles, as we often believe in what the world says more than what the Bible says. I want to encourage all of us who have found Jesus, that what the Bible says is more real than what we can see with our eyes!

If we can believe in what humans say more than what God says, then it is time to question who is then the God in our lives.

"...while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:18 NKJV

Be a Bible-believing Christian. The world can ONLY deteriorate but in the Christian life, there is Life and Life forever more!

"Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day." 2 Corinthians 4:16 NKJV

It is time to live life from the inside out. Let the Bible be the truth that guides your heart, your life, your all. Let the building of your spiritual man be your key pursuit in life. I assure you, er...sorry the Bible assures you that,

"...all these things (all you need in life) shall be added to you." Matthew 6:33

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I want to live my life based on what you say and not what the world says. I want to commit myself to reading the Bible, to know who I really am, to know you and the power of your resurrection. Help me Father to confess your truth everyday instead of confessing my troubles. Set me free in the spirit and set me free in life so that the world may see that YOU ARE GOD! Thank you Jesus! Amen!

You Hold the Key To Success!

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul and Barney)

Scripture Reference: Psalm 1:1-3
You are a young man, young woman either in school or just started your career. You want to do well in your area of studies and work, you want to make it in life! But sometimes, that seems so hard, and you are getting tired…

If you could identify with the above, I have good news for you. You hold the key to success in Life! God has been teaching me about how to succeed in life, and I would like to share with you what He taught me! The Bible in Psalms 1 described a man, a blessed man. The Bible said that,

“He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season…” Psalm 1:3 (NKJV)

You could be that man who is fruitful!

“Whose leaf also shall not wither…” Psalm 1:3 (NKJV)

You could be that man who is not afraid of recession, retrenchment, and has no dry season in your life!

“And whatever he does shall prosper.” Psalm 1:3 (NKJV)

Everything which you touch, will turn to gold! Everything that you get your hands on, you will be successful. Success is yours!!

But there is a condition. This man which Psalm 1 is talking about did something right.

“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night” Psalm 1:2 (NKJV)

This man reads the Bible everyday! He is well versed with what God is saying to him through His Word. The word of God is hidden in his heart, guiding his every action.

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.” Psalms 1:1 (NKJV)

This man does not seek the counsel of that which is outside of the Bible. Many of us when we come to making decisions, often choose to listen to the world than to God.

This is what God has taught me, just read the Bible regularly, God will take care of the rest of the matters. God will grant you success, God will show you the path to move, God will open the doors for you! The key to success is reading the Bible regularly! Let the word of God guide you daily!

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, I am sorry that many a times I do not listen to Your advice. But instead I seek the counsel of my friends, secular books, my own methods etc. I have the greatest treasure in front of me and yet I do not use it. Please help me to develop a regular Bible reading habit. Amen!

The BluePrint for Success

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul and Barney)
Scripture Reference: John 1:1-14
You have been a Christian for a while now, you have always wanted to move into greater spiritual heights. But your Christian life is like a see-saw, up and down. Sometimes you hear God, sometimes you feel that God is far away…

You do not have to seek for the formula anymore! You have the most powerful answer to your issues in life in your hands – The Bible! I am sure you know that The Bible is the word of God, but do you know that The Bible is really your means to get close to God?

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 (NKJV)

The Word of God is God Himself! (v1…and the Word was God!). Every time you open the Bible, it is like seeing God appearing in your midst! Every time speak forth the Word of God, it is God who goes forth to accomplish that which was spoken!

I remember watching the movie, The Mummy. In the movie, when the people read out the words from an ancient book, the power in the words will bring the dead back to life. I always think that these people have great faith! There is not a trace of doubt when they read out the words. We Christians have the real power book in our hands!

Christians, we hold the key to unlock the mysteries of God in our hands – The Bible. Sometimes we do not treat the Bible as the most important book to be read, we do not take reading the Bible as a great priority in our life.

Do you want to know the blueprint of success? I urge you brothers and sisters, pick up the Bible and start reading today. Have a regular Bible reading plan, read the Bible everyday no matter you feel like it or not. The word will feed your spiritual man.

Most importantly, the word is God Himself. A way to touch God everyday is to read the word everyday! Every time you open the Bible, you are nearer to God than ever, He is speaking to you!

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…” John 1:14 (NKJV)

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You that You ARE the powerful Word! Thank You for giving me this powerful weapon. I repent for not spending regular time feeding on Your Word, instead I seek worldly wisdom to solve my problems. Father help me to start a habit of feeding on Your Word everyday, starting from Today! Amen!

We Shall Not Be Moved!

(today's devotion is brought to you by Paul and Barnabas)

Psalm 16:8-9 (New King James Version)
8 I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope.

Back in the olden days, probably in the days of the Roman soldiers, did you know that soldiers were trained specifically in the right hand for attack, killing, and striking by wielding the weapon, while the left hand was for defence using the shield? Yes, in those days, all were trained that way, whether you were left handed or right handed.

So then, the right hand is very strong for attack and the left, for defence. And when the enemy wants to attack the soldier, he will choose the soldier's right side because the soldier does not know how to defend that side! And thus, the soldier's right hand becomes his weakest link.

Dear friend, now do you know why God is always "at my right hand"? That is because He is your Everlasting Shield! With one shield on your left hand (100% your training effort) and God the Shield on your right (100% reliance on God), you need not move anymore because "For when I am weak, then I am strong" (2 Cor 12:10).

And so, your heart is glad, your glory rejoices and your flesh rests well, because when you have both shields, you laugh because the enemy has no way through to you! This is the year of Victory, we need to start training ourselves and start trusting God for His Assuring Protection!

Dear friend, do you feel that you have an extremely weak right hand because you have not fully trusted in God to shield you? Are there areas in your life where you are not so well-equipped to fend off the attacks of the evil one in your mind, your physical being?
Proclaim the blood of Jesus over each and every area of your life today, be it for healing, for financial success, or even in the area of studies and work. With God on your right hand, you shall not be moved!
In order to have victory, we need to fight a winning battle.

God sees you up!

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul and Barnabas)

1 Samuel 16:7
7… For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

Imagine David when he was a young shepherd boy. Many who knew him in his pre-Goliath days would very likely have seen just an ordinary youth — one who lived at home with his parents and siblings, enjoyed the outdoors and loved music. But where others saw a typical teenager, God saw a king in young David. He saw David’s name being uttered in honour forever, for even the Lord Jesus is called the Son of David!

Dearest friend, God does not see as man sees. God saw in fearful Gideon a mighty man of valour and called him so even when he was hiding from his enemies in fear. (Judges 6:12) God saw in young David a king and anointed him as one. (1 Samuel 16:10–13) God saw in meek Moses a deliverer and drew him from obscurity. (Exodus 3)

Today, God looks beyond what man sees and says about you, and He has dreams for you that are bigger than you can imagine! So look far, and know that He has huge plans for you!

While many see a simple person striving hard to catch up with life and with work, God sees a great singer in the making, powerful lungs to take the nations by faith, a mighty prayer warrior, or a wonderful minister for anyone who is looking to know Jesus!

As you read today’s devotion, many of you may identify with what was just shared. There is a small group among you who have been challenged by your spiritual parents of late, to rise up and serve Him in many ways, yet you hold back, and are unsure if you can take up the challenge.

Will you place your hand on your heart this moment, and present all you have unto Him, and pray Jesus’ prayer together with me and say “Lord, not my will, but Yours, be done!”

Fret not! God sees you up!

Be Ashamed No More

(Today's devotion is brought to you by Paul and Barnabas)

Isaiah 43:25-26 (New King James Version)

The Bible states for us that God, even God, is the King and Father, who will not remember our sins for His own sake. Now why will He, for Himself, forgive us?

My dad passed away in 1991, when I was still only 12 years old. So my mom had to take up the role of a mother and a father as well. It was tough job for her, for I was the only male and I had three elder sisters. Many times I made her angry, either with my results during my Secondary and Junior College days, or when I like to answer her rudely. Nonetheless, she will always forgive me, as much as I have left her heartbroken on many occasions.

But one thing is for sure; she will forgive, but not easily forget. Every once in a while she will remind me of what I have done wrong. When I was younger, I always never washed my dishes after meal and would leave it at the sink. So when I grew older, I began to take up the responsibility to wash the dishes, even for my sisters on some occasions.

I remember once, there was a spoon, unwashed and lying at the sink. My mom came straight to me and told me off and she said “See la? You again, never change after all these years”.

I was so hurt. Eventually my sister owned up and said that she left it there. So my “grievances” were redressed.

Now what am I trying to share through my own experience? That actually, God will forgive us, simply because it is His character! Human nature is as such, that my mom will forgive, but she can’t help but remember certain things, but the Bible says that “I will not remember your sins”. And all these, for us no matter what we have done! This is God saying this!

Today, are there some of us who are struggling to overcome some things, like being accused by people you love, or feel that it is difficult to accept that God is a God who forgives and forgets?

It is His Character, and we cannot change it. We can only be thankful and give praise because all we need to do, is to “contend together”, state our case to Him, and we may be acquitted! This is a loving God who will do it, for His own sake.

Will you state your case today? Will you come before the loving God and just say with me, “Hey God, I am struggling with this issue, as much as I am so sinful, thank you for forgiving me and not remembering it anymore because it is Your character. Help me guard my heart, that I will sin no more. Thank You, in Jesus name, Amen.”

Bless you with a new anointing this day. Go, and be ashamed no more.

God can take the ugliest, least significant to change it into the most beautiful gem

(today's devotion is brought to you by Samantha, Wan Lin and Shauna)

Scripture Reference: Acts 2:1-21

Even as this whole passage speaks about how the holy spirit revealed himself to the people, what was significant was more of Peter addressing the crowd. This is the famous Simon Peter who denied Jesus three times, with a spirit of timidity and of fear. Read John 18:15-18, 25-27.

Peter had been an unstable leader during Jesus’ ministry, letting his bravado be his downfall. But Christ had forgiven and restored him (John 21), not caring about his past mistakes and recovering his covenant with him. In Acts, this was a new Peter, humble but bold.

His confidence came from the Holy spirit, who made him a powerful and dynamic speaker addressing the crowd. He was actually standing up against accusations that speak about the people being drunk. Isn’t it amazing that God can still use a servant as imperfect as him? Even after he denied Jesus infront of all men?

Today, this scripture speaks to two groups of people:

1) Have you ever felt that you’ve made such bad mistakes that God can never forgive and use you? No matter what sins you have committed, God promises to forgive you and make you useful for His kingdom.

Because, today our God is not one that focuses on the past mistakes, He focuses on loving his sheep and renewing His covenant with them. There is never a mistake committed too big that God cannot forgive. Would you repent now in a prayer before God and allow him to forgive you and use you effectively to serve him?

2) Have you ever felt like you are lousy and not good enough to stand up and do the works of God? Do you find yourself judging your standards by the standards of the world just to realize that your self-esteem is so low and that you cannot do anything for God?

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’” 2 Cor 12:9 . If you are already that good, how can others see God’s mighty power in You? Today be bold, be strong and courageous, and reject all negative thoughts implanted by the evil one!! Pray now! God yearns to see you standing up proud for His works!

The very high priest = the lamb that was slain. :: Amazing Love, how can it be?::

(today's devotion is brought to you by Samantha, Wan Lin and Shauna)

Scripture Reference: Hebrews 10:1-23

In the old Jewish system, the priest’s work was never finished, they always had to stand and offer sacrifices. These costly sacrifices of animals impressed upon the sinner the seriousness of his or her own sin before God. In verse 3, it states that, “those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins…”

Imagine living in those days where you are constantly reminded of what you have done, the torment must have been great. Most of us would most probably live in guilt and feel unworthy before God the whole life.

But, “God demonstrated His love for us…” John 3:16, the lamb of God that was slain was Jesus. This very priest is His own sacrifice for all of us and His sacrifice is infinitely greater than any Old Testament offering.

He is now sitting beside the Father interceding for all of us and thus, we now “have the confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus”; a place where only priests could enter last time.

Considering the immeasurable gift that Christ has given us, we should respond by giving our devotion and service. Not taking this freedom for granted or treating the Lamb that was sacrifice as… just a fact. Verse 22 then ends with saying, “let us draw near to God with a sincere heart…”

Have you been devoted to God just like how He has been so faithful to you by giving His son? As we enter in the month of April, are you getting weary going deep into the word? As we look far to build His family, don’t forget to continue to draw close to God in your quiet time with Him.

Right now, close your eyes and think about how Christ has died for you. As all the scenes play your mind, utter a word of thanks to God and begin praying with a sincere heart, with all devotion to Him!
