QT on 20th March 2012

Today's Word is taken from Exodus 8:25-32 (NIV)

[25] Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, "Go, sacrifice to your God here in the land." [26] But Moses said, "That would not be right. The sacrifices we offer the Lord our God would be detestable to the Egyptians. And if we offer sacrifices that are detestable in their eyes, will they not stone us? [27] We must take a three-day journey into the desert to offer sacrifices to the Lord our God, as he commands us." [28] Pharaoh said, "I will let you go to offer sacrifices to the Lord your God in the desert, but you must not go very far. Now pray for me." [29] Moses answered, "As soon as I leave you, I will pray to the Lord, and tomorrow the flies will leave Pharaoh and his officials and his people. Only be sure that Pharaoh does not act deceitfully again by not letting the people go to offer sacrifices to the Lord." [30] Then Moses left Pharaoh and prayed to the Lord, [31] and the Lord did what Moses asked: The flies left Pharaoh and his officials and his people; not a fly remained. [32] But this time also Pharaoh hardened his heart and would not let the people go.


1. People cannot know the true motives of our hearts. We lie, we stretch the truth, our hearts change, & circumstances differ. But God knows our hearts, and in His eyes, that is what matters. Let our hearts be pure.

We need to seek the Approval of God & NOT the applause of men. One of the ways to keep our hearts pure is to consistently seek to glorify God in everything that we do... and to do ONLY what God call us to do... We need to truly seek to serve others in ALL that we do, seek to expand God's Kingdom & NOT our "little empire", seek to put God first in our lives!


2. Do you know God? As He provides for us daily, as His majesty is written in nature, & as His heart breaks for the suffering in the world, are you really understanding God?

God's ways are much higher than ours. When God moves, we can only humbly bow and submit to every step that God is leading us.In moments when we do NOT fully understand, we need to TRUST, we need to be OBEDIENT, we need to MOVE in FAITH according to the voice of the HOLY SPIRIT!


Closing Prayer:
Gracious God, we want to be in Your presence daily. We confess that there are too many things which vie for our attention & our hearts, & often, they win out. We pray that You will make Yourself known to Your people and to this world. In Your name. Amen.
