QT on 11th March 2012

Today's Word is taken from Exodus 4:24-31 (NIV)

[24] At a lodging place on the way, the Lord met Moses and was about to kill him. [25] But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off her son's foreskin and touched Moses' feet with it. "Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me," she said. [26] So the Lord let him alone. (At that time she said "bridegroom of blood," referring to circumcision.) [27] The Lord said to Aaron, "Go into the desert to meet Moses." So he met Moses at the mountain of God and kissed him. [28] Then Moses told Aaron everything the Lord had sent him to say, and also about all the miraculous signs he had commanded him to perform. [29] Moses and Aaron brought together all the elders of the Israelites, [30] and Aaron told them everything the Lord had said to Moses. He also performed the signs before the people, [31] and they believed. And when they heard that the Lord was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped.

- Moses was on the way to Egypt that the Lord wanted to kill Moses... According to Exodus 4:26. God only let Moses go after Moses' wife acted to circumcise her their son immediately.

- In today's QT, I learnt that, as we walk together with the Lord, we need to OBEY God's instructions for us. In Genesis 17:9-14, it was recorded for us that God has already given the Israelites this instruction: "Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised." Sometimes, such instructions can be forgotten over a long period of time... or one can compromise and not follow these instructions after some time...

- If we want to be used by God, if we want to walk in God's Presence, we need to fulfill what God called us to do and not neglect any of His commands. I thought we also need to help our children obey those commands together as a family. We need to ensure our children are circumcised too...

Closing Prayer:
Holy God, You are a covenant-keeping God and One who is and will always be true to Your promises. Help me to honour my promises to You. And as Your promises are fulfilled in my life, let my response be one of humble worship. In Jesus' name. Amen.
