Psalm 2
Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One. "Let us break their chains," they say, "and throw off their fetters."
The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, "I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill."
I will proclaim the decree of the LORD: He said to me, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. You will rule them with an iron scepter; you will dash them to pieces like pottery."
Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
As I read Psalm 2 and tries to write today's devotion... I was stucked for quite a long while and wondered what is God trying to tell me? I mean... Psalm 2 talks about people going against the Lord's Anointed One and the Lord reminding us to serve His Chosen Servant faithfully so that we will be blessed...
It is the beginning of the second day into the Year of Sabbath and I just celebrated New Year Day... Then as I gets into the 2nd Day devotion, its like... hmm... God, are you trying to tell me something? What are you saying, dear Lord? Tell me please... I want to know... Why Psalm 2? Why reminder not to touch the Lord's Anointed?
Then suddenly, it became clear to me... This is the Year of Sabbath and the Key Verse given to us is found in Isaiah 58:13,14... where Isaiah 58:1 starts with (ISA 58:1 "Shout it aloud, do not hold back.
Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the house of Jacob their sins.) Isaiah addressing the rebellion of the people of God... and Isaiah 58:13 instruct us not to do as we please, not to go our own way... and not to speak idle words...
I think as we begin the year of 2008, the year of Sabbath, we need to be alert not to touch the Lord's Anointed Servant. In order to achieve Intimacy, Integration & Interdependance, we need to protect the Unity of the Body and totally submit to God's Chosen Servant. Let us be wise and serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling!!!
